Hyperscale and xScale Data Centers

A hyperscale data center has enough floor space to:

  • hold thousands of computing and storage systems, and

  • offer massive networking capacity and increased connectivity speeds.

Equinix hyperscale data centers, called xScale data centers, are Equinix data centers joined with partner data centers. In an xScale data center, you have access to:

xScale data centers provide access to a comprehensive suite of Interconnection and Edge services that tie into a hyperscale company’s existing access points at Equinix. xScale also enables you to manage or outsource your business operations with our Smart Hands services.

Data Hall is available to users in our xScale data centers. Data Hall:

  • enables large footprint colocation deployments within your own dedicated white space.

  • allows you full control of the space and the ability to deploy your infrastructure according to your own design.

Each Data Hall:

  • Can support over 250 cabinets

  • Has dedicated UPS-backed power

  • Scales in multi-megawatt increments

  • Operates at either ASHRAE Recommended or Allowable environmental ranges

Rooftop Space reserves a portion of the data center roof where you can install (or Equinix can install on your behalf) a platform to support your antenna needs for timing services (GPS) or direct communication (microwave).

Note:

  • The platform is not included with Rooftop Space.

  • Interconnection between your Rooftop Space and your Data Hall is through a customer-installed custom cable connection.
