Schedule a Data Center Tour

Important: On-site policies are subject to change. For full policy information, refer to our Global IBX Policies.

You can use the Customer Portal to schedule a tour of an IBX data center for yourself and/or other members of your organization. There is no cost for this service.

During the tour, you can view the IBX facilities, including private cages and secure cabinets.

Note:
  • The availability of data center tours may vary by IBX location.

  • Each customer is limited to 5 tours per week, per IBX.

  • A tour request can include up to 10 guests.

Important: The use of recording equipment (photo, video, audio) is NOT allowed in the IBX without prior review and consent by Equinix. Equinix can take photos or recordings of your cage or equipment for you — submit a Smart Hands order for Request Photos. Or if you need consent to use your own recording equipment, explain the purpose of the photography/recording in the details of your visit request. For full policy information, refer to our Global IBX Policies.

To schedule a tour:

  1. From the Orders and Tickets menu in the Customer Portal, select Data Center Tour.

  2. On the Tour Request screen, select a tour type:

    • Equinix Guided – An Equinix staff member at the IBX guides the tour. Subject to availability.

    • Customer Guided – If your company has a certified tour guide, this person can guide the tour.

      Note:
      • Users who conduct tours are required to complete an Equinix tour guide certification. Contact your CSM for details on how to become a tour guide.

      • If your company does not have a certified tour guide, request an Equinix Guided tour.

  3. Under Location, select the IBX data center you want to tour.

Once you select a location, the screen displays the location details (including the street address, hours of operation, and a link to a map of the surrounding area).

  4. Under Scheduling Details:

    1. Select the date and time for your tour (using the IBX's local time zone).

    2. Select the desired length of the tour (from 30 minutes to 120 minutes).

  5. Under Select a Host, you are the meeting host by default. Optionally, you can select a different user as the host (by searching for their name or email address, or using the User Directory).

  6. Under Visitors, add everyone who will attend the tour (minimum=1, maximum=10).

Important: All attendees must show a government-issued photo ID to enter an IBX. For more information, see Visiting an IBX.

Tip: For each visitor you added, you can click the arrow beside their name to view their permissions and account status.

  7. (For Customer-Guided tours) Under Select a Host, select your company's certified tour guide (by searching for their name or email address, or using the User Directory). This person must be present for the tour.

  8. Under Additional Information and File Attachment:

    1. Use Additional Details to add any other information you want communicated to the IBX staff (such as any specific areas of the IBX you would like to view).

Important: If you plan to take photos or videos during the tour, you must request permission first. State your detailed purpose under Additional Details. Equinix will review your request.

    2. Use Upload File(s) to add any relevant attachments to your request.

Your attachments are sent to the IBX on-site staff.

  9. Enter Customer Reference Information. Many companies have an internal ticketing system to track issues or track items ordered from Equinix. This field provides a place to enter your internal reference information, such as P.O. numbers, ticket numbers, or descriptive text.

Tip: This information can be searched for on the Orders and Tickets History screen, and will also appear on any related invoices.

  10. Under Add Contact Information, you are listed as the Ordering Contact and the Notification Contact. Optionally, you can add more Notification Contacts and/or a Technical Contact.

    Note:
