Create a Redundant Device Link Group for Resiliency

Create a Redundant Device Link Group

When the first Device Link Group (DLG) is created and multiple devices are added from multiple metros to this group, the traffic is routed through the primary Fabric plane by default. In case of a service impacting incident with primary Fabric plane, or service-impacting maintenance, this primary Device Link will be also impacted. A secondary DLG is highly recommended to increase availability of your device connectivity.

For more information about DLG resiliency, see Device Link Resiliency.

Create a Secondary DLG (for a Cluster Device)

A secondary DLG can be created as follows:

  1. Sign in to Equinix Fabric.

  2. From the Network Edge menu, select Device Link Inventory.

  3. Click Create New Device Link Group to start the DLG creation workflow.

  4. All of your devices will display. Click the devices you want to link.
  5. Click Next: Device Link Details.
  6. In the Device Link Details section enter a link name in the Device Link Name field.
  7. Select Secondary to create a secondary DLG connection through the secondary Fabric plane.
  8. Select a Connection Bandwidth.
  9. In the Interfaces section, select:

    • Automatically select the next available interface on my device(s) if you want to use the next available interface.

    • I will select an interface if you want to specify an interface, and then select a primary interface and a secondary interface.

  10. Click Next: Review.
  11. Review the details, devices, and pricing.
  12. Click Submit.
  13. Note: As a best practice, it is recommended that you keep the primary DLG routed through the primary Fabric plane and the secondary DLG routed through the secondary Fabric plane to simplify the design for troubleshooting.
