Failure Scenarios for Network Edge Infrastructure

This topic shows examples of possible failures in Network Edge, and how Equinix responds.

This diagram shows the possible points of failure. The numbers correspond to the explanations below.

	ECN Node or Link Failure Equinix automatically reroutes the traffic Equinix raises a Priority 2 incident You are notified of a loss of resiliency
	ECX Node or Link Failure Single and cluster Network Edge VNF connectivity will be disrupted. Redundant VNFs require redundant connectivity for higher resiliency. Equinix raises a Priority 1 incident if single and cluster VNF services are disrupted. Equinix raises a Priority 2 incident if the redundant VNF provides redundant connectivity through secondary ECX Node. You are notified of a loss of resiliency
	SPINE node failure Equinix automatically reroutes the traffic Equinix raises a Priority 2 incident You are notified of a loss of resiliency
	TOR Node or Link Failure Equinix automatically reroutes the traffic Equinix raises a Priority 2 incident You are notified of a loss of resiliency
	COMPUTE Failure Equinix automatically redeploys environments on the same compute if the incident time is less than 30 minutes After 30 minutes, Equinix redeploys the device on a new compute You are sent a redeployment alert
	Network Edge Device Failure User-Managed Devices: You raise a Priority 1 incident through an Equinix portal or GSD On Equinix-licensed devices, Equinix engages the device vendor if required If you are using your own license or a 3rd party license, you are advised to engage the device vendor (See Demarcation of Device Responsibility per General Network Edge Device Scenario.) Equinix-Managed Devices:
	Equinix raises a Priority 1 incident Equinix engages the device vendor if required
