Order EPL over Fabric

Use Equinix Fabric to replicate Packet Metro Connect functionality with increased benefits. Order EPL ports and create a Fabric connection between them.

Order EPL ports

To order EPL ports:

  1. Log in to Equinix Fabric.

  2. From the Ports menu, select Order an Equinix Fabric Port.

  3. In the Port Details section, provide information specific to where you want to terminate your port.

    1. Select My Cage in an Equinix IBX.

    2. Select metro and choose an IBX.

    3. Select Billing Account.

    4. In the Port Configuration section, select Non-Shared and choose Ethernet Private Line.

    5. Select a Port Speed.

    6. Select a Port Interface Type and click Next: Service Details.

    1. Select A Building Meet Me Room (BMMR).

    2. Select metro and choose an IBX.

    3. Select Billing Account.

    4. In the Port Configuration section, choose Ethernet Private Line.

    5. Select a Port Speed.

    6. Select a Port Interface Type and click Next: Service Details.

    1. Select A third party with a cage in an Equinix IBX.

    2. Select metro and choose an IBX.

    3. Select Billing Account.

    4. In the Port Configuration section, choose Ethernet Private Line.

    5. Select a Port Speed.

    6. Select a Port Interface Type and click Next: Service Details.

  4. Click Next: Connection Details.

  5. Provide connection details, specific to where you want to terminate your port.

    1. Select the Equinix router you want your port to be connected to.

    2. Enter a patch panel name or browse your assets and select a patch panel.

    3. Select connector type, choose patch panel ports and click Next: Contact and Billing Information.

    1. Select the Equinix router you want your port to be connected to.

    2. Select Equinix, then click Upload and provide a document that authorizes you to terminate a port in the BMMR.

    3. Enter Circuit ID.

    4. Click Next: Contact and Billing Information.

    1. Select the Equinix router you want your port to be connected to.

    2. Click Upload and provide a document that authorizes you to terminate a port in a third party's cage.

    3. Enter Circuit ID.

    4. Click Next: Contact and Billing Information.

  6. Click Add Purchase Order and Internal Reference Information to add purchase order information.

  7. Adjust contact information for technical inquiries and notifications, then click Next: Review.

  8. Review your order and select I agree to acknowledge the pricing information.

  9. Select order signing option and click Submit Order.

  10. Check your email and sign your order.

    Tip: You can monitor port provisioning progress in Port Inventory. To access Port Inventory, from the Ports menu, select Port Inventory.

  11. Repeat steps 1-10 to create a second EPL port.

Order Fabric Connection

Important: Before you order a Fabric connection, you have to wait for your ports to get provisioned. Check the Ports Inventory and once the ports you've order are listed there, you can proceed with creating your connection.

To order a Fabric connection:

  1. Log in to Equinix Fabric.

  2. From the Connections menu, select Create Connection.

  3. Use the context switcher to change active project.

  4. On the My Own Assets card, click Connect to My Own Assets.

  5. On the Connect My Assets as E-line tile, click Create Connection.

  6. In the Origin section, select Port.

  7. Choose metro and select one of the previously ordered Fabric EPL port instances.

  8. In the Destination section, select Port.

  9. Choose metro, select the other Fabric EPL port instance and click Next.

  10. Enter connection name, select bandwidth and click Next.

  11. Review the Connection Summary and Pricing Overview, add an optional email address for Notifications, then click Submit Order.

    Tip: Navigate to Connections Inventory to monitor your connection's status.
