Terms and Definitions
The Equinix Digital Letter of Authorization (Digital LOA) Manager uses the following terms and status definitions:
-
Equinix Customer Portal (ECP) – Sign in to ECP to access the Digital LOA Manager (LOA) Manager, a graphical user interface (GUI) tool.
-
Digital LOA (DiLOA) – Digital document, created and delivered online by using the LOA Manager. The DiLOA authorizes an A-side user to access Z-side assets to create connections. The DiLOA includes specific details for a connection, such as the IBX, cage, cabinet, media type, and ports to use in the authorized connection.
-
LOA token – Unique DiLOA identifier that is presented in Portable Document Format (PDF), in email and on the ECP.
-
LOA status – Describes where the DiLOA is currently located in its workflow:
-
Ready for use (A-side) – The DiLOA can be used to order Cross Connects. The ports used in the LOA were reserved. The DiLOA was sent to the A-side partner, notifying that it is enabled for use in the Cross Connects ordering process.
-
Ready for use (Z-side) – In this status, from the menu actions that are available on the Z-side, the DiLOA can be:
-
Cancelled
-
Resent – to A-side customer
-
A-side email changed – when the DiLOA is sent
-
-
Locked – The DiLOA was used for Cross Connects ordering, the order was submitted, and currently, the order is being processed by IBX technicians to establish the requested connections. All the ports that were used during the creation of this DiLOA are still reserved, because the Cross Connects order can be canceled and this DiLOA can return to Ready for use status.
-
Used – The DiLOA was used for Cross Connects ordering and the order was successfully processed, so the connection was established. All the unused ports in this DiLOA are unreserved.
-
Cancelled – The DiLOA was cancelled by its creator. All the ports used in this DiLOA are unreserved.
-
Expired – The DiLOA expiry date has passed. All the ports used in this DiLOA are now unreserved.
-
Pending Requestor Acceptance – The DiLOA was created, but for security reasons, the intended user must confirm it. This happens when the partner was not selected from the list of partners provided in the LOA Manager in ECP. The A-side customer receives an email that includes a link to click for automatic verification. In this status, the DiLOA can be:
-
Cancelled
-
-
Pending Authorization – After the DiLOA was created and the A-side partner was authenticated, the Z-side partner must approve the data gathered by the authentication process by clicking the link inside the email. The DiLOA status changes to Ready for use. In this status, the DiLOA can be:
-
Cancelled
-
-
-
Port reservation – The DiLOA reserves the specified assets during its creation. This ensures that the ports will be available to complete the connection process.

A-side partner – The partner that ordered the connection and pays for it. This partner used the new DiLOA in its Ready for use status.
-
Z-side partner – The partner that created the DiLOA, and authorizes the use of the assets needed to establish the connection.
