Create a Protection

Protect a vApp or Virtual Machine from one Organization VDC to another, and keep the workload running in the source site. The source site is an Organization VDC or On-Premises vSphere environment.

If the source site is unavailable, after a successful replication you can failover and power on the source virtual machine in the destination site. The main advantage of a protection over a migration is that it supports SLA’s with a RPO as low as 1 hour.

Prerequisites

  • Tenant access to EBC Availability

  • Organization Administrator credentials for the destination Cloud site

  1. Open the CDA plugin in the EBC Tenant Portal on the destination Cloud site. See Access EBC Availability for instructions.

  2. Choose the replication direction, click ALL ACTIONS and select New protection.

  3. Enter an internal Organization Administrator credentials and click LOGIN.

    Note: SAML isn't supported.

  4. Select the virtual machine(s) or vApp(s) to protect and click NEXT.

  5. Select the destination Organization VDC, select a storage policy and click NEXT.

  6. Select the required SLA Profile (RPO), select optional settings and click NEXT.

  7. Review replication settings and click FINISH.

  8. Check the replication status and proceed with performing a failover.
