Precision Time Service Quotes and Assisted Ordering

Contact your sales representative if you need assistance with ordering and configuring the base settings for your Equinix Precision Time service. After the service is set up, sign into the Equinix Fabric portal to view the quote for the service ordered, and to finalize the network configuration settings.

Precision Time configurations created by your sales representative are not available for editing through the Fabric portal. Only your sales representative can edit the configurations that were created for you.

Note: If you are a Purchase Order (PO) Bearing customer who is not PO exempt for Product Professional Services, you cannot place a sales-assisted order. Instead, you can create an online order as described in Order Precision Time with Quick Connect.

Place the Order

Provide the following information to your sales representative to configure the base characteristics of your service:

  • Customer Contact – The email or phone number of the primary contact person for the service account
  • Service Tier – Standard or Enterprise
  • Protocol – NTP or PTP

    • NTP with Standard tier – Supports approximately 1,000 NTP clients
    • NTP with Enterprise tier – Supports approximately 2,000 NTP clients
    • PTP with Standard tier – Supports approximately 20 PTP clients
    • PTP with Enterprise tier – Supports approximately 100 PTP clients
  • IBX Location – The Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data center that will host your Equinix Precision Time services

Examine the Quote

After placing the order for an Equinix Precision Time service, Equinix generates a quote and emails it to the contact designated for your Precision Time account. Approve the quote to finalize the terms of service and enable the system provisioning.

To complete the setup, configure the details of the service using Quick Connect in the Fabric portal.

Complete a New Precision Time Service Request

When the service is in the Ready for Provisioning state, the service setup must be finalized before it can be provisioned.

  • Configure – Locate the new service in the Precision Time Service Inventory list. Click Configure to finalize the service configuration using the Quick Connect procedure.

    The Quick Connect pages contain the connection details you provided to your sales representative, plus the fields you need to populate to complete the service configuration.

    After you submit the order, your service is listed in the Precision Time Service Inventory with the status set to Provisioning. The status changes to Provisioned when the provisioning is complete.

  • Cancel Service – Click this button to cancel the service request before the order is submitted. The service is moved to the Deprovisioned Services section with a status of Cancelled.

Manage the Service

Once the service is Provisioned, you can manage the service instance as described in View, Update, and Deprovision Precision Time Services.

Note: You must wait 6 hours before updating a newly provisioned service. During this wait time, the invoice database updates its records to provide accurate pricing.

To make changes to an existing service, do not delete it and create a new service to replace it. Instead, use the Fabric portal to change your configuration as described in Modify a Precision Time Service Instance.
