Fabric Super Agent

Fabric Super Agent is an AI agent for Equinix Fabric. Fabric Super Agent connects to Fabric through tools mapped to the Fabric v4 API. You can look up your inventory, search the Fabric catalog, get help designing connections, and walk through guided workflows to create new resources using natural language.

The agent inherits the permissions of your signed-in user. If your user can create connections in the Portal or API, the agent can also create connections. If your user is read-only, the agent is read-only.

AI-generated responses

Fabric Super Agent uses generative AI. Responses may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete. Review the agent's proposed changes before approving them, and verify important information against the Fabric Portal or the Fabric v4 API.

The agent runs in Slack, Microsoft Teams, and the Equinix Customer Portal.

Private Beta

Fabric Super Agent is in Private Beta. Access is enabled per organization by Equinix. To request access, email fabric-intelligence-support@equinix.com or contact your Equinix account team.

Limitations During Private Beta:

  • Approval is required for any change. The agent always waits for explicit approval before executing a write operation.
  • Permissions follow the signed-in user. The agent can only see and act on resources your Fabric user is authorized for.
  • Delete operations are not exposed in the agent. Use the Customer Portal or the API.
  • The agent only has access to Fabric. The agent does not manage Network Edge configuration, colocation inventory, or billing.
  • No monitoring or alerting. The agent does not generate alerts or push proactive notifications. Ask for the current state of a resource when you need it.
  • Session-scoped memory. The agent remembers context within a conversation but does not retain state across sessions.
  • English only.

Prerequisites

  • An active Equinix Fabric user account with permissions for the resources you want the agent to work with. If you do not have an account, see Create a New User Account.
  • At least one supported channel: a Slack workspace, a Microsoft Teams tenant, or Equinix Customer Portal access.

During Private Beta, access is gated by an allowlist. Email fabric-intelligence-support@equinix.com with your Equinix user email and the channel you want to use (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Equinix Customer Portal, or any combination). Your Equinix account team can also submit the request for you.

Supported Channels

ChannelHow you use it
SlackInstall the Fabric Super Agent app in your Slack workspace, then message the agent directly or @mention it in a channel.
Microsoft TeamsAdd the Fabric Super Agent app from your Teams app catalog, then chat with the agent directly or in a Teams channel.
Equinix Customer PortalEmbedded chat from the Fabric Dashboard. No installation. Enabled users converse with the agent directly in the portal.

Slack Usage and Installation

Fabric Super Agent is an AI agent. When you send it a message, it interprets your request, calls the Equinix Fabric v4 API on your behalf using your own Equinix permissions, and replies in the conversation. You can talk to it three ways:

  • Direct message. Open a DM with Fabric Super Agent and ask a question.
  • AI assistant panel. Open the agent from Slack's AI assistant entry point for a dedicated split-view conversation alongside your other channels.
  • @mention in a channel. Invite the agent to a channel and @mention it to ask a question where your team can see the answer.

The AI assistant experience in Slack requires your workspace to be on a paid Slack plan. To add the app to your workspace:

  1. Open https://api.equinix.com/slack/install and follow the prompts to add Fabric Super Agent to your Slack workspace. Depending on your workspace settings, a Slack admin may need to approve the installation.

  2. Open a conversation with the agent. In Slack, find Fabric Super Agent under Apps, or open it from the AI assistant panel.

  3. The first time you message the agent, it prompts you to sign in through the standard Equinix OAuth flow. Sign in with your Equinix credentials. This links your Slack identity to your Equinix Fabric user. The agent only ever acts with your user's permissions.

  4. To verify it works, ask:

"What metros are available in Equinix Fabric?"

You should get a list of metros. If the agent does not respond or returns an access denied message, your organization or user is not enabled yet. Email fabric-intelligence-support@equinix.com.

A workspace admin can remove the app from Manage Apps in the Slack admin dashboard. To disconnect your Equinix account link or ask about stored data, contact fabric-intelligence-support@equinix.com.

Example Prompts

These prompts are drawn from the agent's evaluation suite and work today.

Look up your resources

  • "List my ports"
  • "List my connections"
  • "Show me my ports in Silicon Valley"
  • "List my Fabric Cloud Routers"
  • "Show me my service tokens"
  • "List my projects"

Search and discovery

  • "Find AWS Direct Connect service profiles in Ashburn"
  • "What service profiles are available for Azure in Dallas?"
  • "Show me available metros"
  • "Which metros support Fabric Cloud Router?"

Create and modify (guided workflows)

  • "Create a connection from my port in SV to AWS Direct Connect"
  • "I want to set up a new Fabric Cloud Router"
  • "Help me create a connection to Azure ExpressRoute"

Networking knowledge

  • "What is a Fabric Cloud Router and when should I use one?"
  • "How does BGP peering work with Fabric Cloud Router?"
  • "Explain the difference between a dot1q and qinq port"

Guided Workflows

Read operations run immediately. For any operation that creates or changes a resource, the agent presents a summary of the planned change and waits for your explicit approval before executing. There is no autonomous mode.

You: I need a new Fabric Cloud Router in Ashburn, basic package.

Agent: I can set that up. Before I create anything, here's what I'm
proposing:

Name: ashburn-fcr-01
Metro: DC (Ashburn)
Package: BASIC
Project: acme-prod

Reply "approve" to create it, or tell me what to change.

You: Change the name to ashburn-prod-fcr-01 and use package STANDARD.

Agent: Updated proposal:

Name: ashburn-prod-fcr-01
Metro: DC (Ashburn)
Package: STANDARD

Reply "approve" to create it.

You: Approve.

Agent: Created. Fabric Cloud Router ashburn-prod-fcr-01 is
provisioning now.

The agent carries context across turns within a conversation, so you can iterate on a plan ("change the metro", "make it standard package", "now add a connection to AWS") without restating the whole request.

Security and Privacy

  • Authentication. Each user signs in with their own Equinix credentials through the standard Equinix OAuth flow. The agent acts on behalf of the signed-in user.
  • Authorization. The agent inherits the signed-in user's Fabric permissions exactly. There is no shared service account and no elevated access path.
  • Approval before changes. Operations that create or update a resource require explicit confirmation in the conversation.
  • Audit trail. Actions the agent takes appear in standard Equinix audit logs as actions performed by the signed-in user, alongside Portal and API activity.
  • Conversation logging. Conversations are logged by Equinix for support, debugging, and quality evaluation during Private Beta. Conversation content is not used to train third-party foundation models.
  • Privacy policy. See the Equinix Privacy Policy.

Support

Email fabric-intelligence-support@equinix.com for support, access requests, and feedback. When reporting an issue, include the channel (Slack, Teams, or Portal), the prompt you used, and roughly when it happened.
