Basic Service Provider Requirements

Before becoming an Equinix Fabric service provider, you must meet a few base requirements:

  • You must have at least one .1q or QinQ Equinix Fabric port that is physically connected to your Equinix point of presence (PoP). Alternatively, you could enable connectivity to a virtual device or router if you do not have physical availability.

  • You must create an Equinix Fabric Service Profile to define your service offer.

  • You must be able to accept an EVPL (VLAN-based) connection to your offered service.

    note

EPL is also available but does not allow you to aggregate connections to your service.

The new service provider on-boarding process has five stages:

  1. Define – Determine the services you want to offer over Fabric and in what locations these services will be offered. Determine any initial costs and how best to maximize your investment. See Define Your Services.
  2. Design – Clearly define the process for connection to your service, making the process simple and automated where possible for your customers. See Design Your Solution.
