Usernames and Passwords

This topic explains how to choose a username.

Username Guidelines

Equinix now requires you to use a valid email address as a username. This allows you to reset your password.

Tip: If you previously registered with a non-email user name, you can continue using it to sign into the portal. But you are required to add a valid email address to your account.

Note: If the optional Username field is used (in addition to the Email field) when creating a user account, the username:

  • Must be between 8 and 100 characters

  • Must not include any of the following special characters: # ? ' ! $ ^ * : ; < > [ ] { } % "

  • Must not include spaces

Reset Your Password

Tip: You can reduce security risks by changing your password frequently.

Video – Resetting Your Password

  1. On the portal page, click Reset password.

  2. Enter your email address. A reset link is sent to your email. Click on the link attached.

  3. Select one of the accounts associated with the provided email address for which you want to reset the password.

  4. Enter your new password. Requirements:

    • Must be at least 14 characters long

    • Must contain at least one lower-case letter (from a-z)

    • Must contain at least one upper-case letter (from A-Z)

    • Must contain at least one numeral (from 0-9)

    • Must contain at least one special character: # ! $ ^ & * @

    • Must not include any of these special characters: ; < > [ ] { } % ' "

    • Must not include spaces

    • Must not contain two identical characters consecutively

  5. Repeat the password and click Save New Password

  6. Sign in with your new password.
