Quick Connect to AWS Direct Connect

Quick Connect to AWS Direct Connect enables a more convenient creation of connections to AWS.


To connect to AWS Direct connect using Quick Connect:

  1. Log in to the Equinix Fabric portal.

  2. Use the Context Switcher and select the project under which you want to create the connection. For more information on projects, see Equinix Identity and Access Management: Projects.

  3. From the Connections menu, select Create Connection.

  4. On the A Service Provider card, click Connect to a Service Provider and search for Amazon Web Services.

  5. On the Amazon Web Services card, click Select Service, then click Create Connection.

  6. Select connection type:

    • Redundant - Create a redundant pair of connections.

    • Primary - Create a single, primary connection.

    • Secondary - Create a single, secondary connection.

      Note: A single secondary connection is available for port, service token, and Fabric Cloud Router origin asset types.

  7. Enter your AWS account identifier and click Next.

    Tip: To retrieve your AWS account identifier, log in to the AWS Management Console and click your username in the top-right corner. When you paste your account ID, make sure to remove dash characters.

  8. Select AWS destination metro.

    Tip: If you want to terminate your primary and secondary connections in different locations, deselect the Use the same destination for both Connections option and select the metro for each connection individually.

  9. Configure your connection depending on the origin asset type:

  10. Provide the email addresses of the recipients to be notified about the connection's status.

  11. Enter purchase order number.

  12. Review the connection details and click Create Connection.

    Tip: Click Show Order Summary to see order details and connection pricing information.

  13. Accept your Direct Connect Hosted Connection:

    • Using the AWS Direct Connect console:

      1. Click Connections, select your connection and click View details.
      2. Select the charges confirmation checkbox, then click Accept.
    • Using the Equinix Fabric portal:

      1. From the Connections menu, select Connections Inventory.
      2. Locate and click your AWS Direct Connect connection.
      3. Click Accept.
      4. Enter an Amazon Access Key and click Submit.
