Connect to a Port

Set up and provision a new connection between Fabric Cloud Router and a port through the Equinix Fabric portal.

Create a Connection to a Port

  1. Sign into the Equinix Customer Portal and navigate to Fabric.

  2. If your Fabric account has been transitioned to Equinix Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform, use the Context Switcher drop-down list to access your project and its assets.

  3. From the Connections menu, select Create Connection.

  4. In the Create a Connection to section, click Connect to My Own Assets.

  5. On the Connect My Assets as E-line card, click Create Connection.

    The Select Locations form is displayed.

Select Locations

  1. In the Origin section, click the Fabric Cloud Routers card.

  2. Select the region tab, the metro location, and the Fabric Cloud Router card for your new connection.

  3. In the Destination section, select the region tab, the metro location, and the port card.

    Note: You can only connect a Cloud Router to other endpoints within the same metro location.

  4. Click Next in the lower right corner. The Connection Details form is displayed.

Connection Details

  1. Enter connection details in these fields:

    • Connection Information – A name for the new connection.

    • Destination Tags – A value for the Z-side VLAN.

    • Purchase Order Number – A number to be included in the confirmation email.

    • Configure Routing Details – Values for IPv4 and IPv6 subnets, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD), and other routing details. You can configure these values now or after the order is submitted. The new connection is not provisioned until the routing details are configured.   2. Select a Connection Speed.

  3. The Pricing Overview section shows the monthly charge for the new connection. Click Design Summary to download a PDF version.

  4. Click Next in the lower right corner. The Review page is displayed.

Review

  1. Verify the details in the Connection Summary section.

  2. In the Notifications section, you can add one or more additional email addresses. Click Add Another Email and enter an address. Repeat this step to add more addresses.

  3. The Pricing Overview section shows the monthly charge. Click Design Summary to download a PDF version.

  4. Click Submit Order.

    A confirmation page displays the Connection Unique ID and a link to Configure routing details.

    Tip: To display the inventory list of your port connections, click View This Connection. For more information, see Fabric Cloud Router Inventory.

Configure Routing Details

  1. In the Next Steps section of the confirmation page, click Configure routing details.

  2. On the Connections page, click Configure Routing.

    The Configure Routing Details form is displayed.

  3. Select the type of subnets to provide, and enter an Equinix-side IP address.

  4. Select Enable Border Cloud Router Protocol (BGP) and enter a Customer-side ASN and a Customer-side Peer IPv4 host address. You can also enter an Authentication Key and add a Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) interval.

  5. Click Apply Changes. The Routing Details are updated, and the connection is fully provisioned.
