Identity Management
Identity Management is the process we use to ensure the right people have the right access to information and resources in a secure manner.
Email-based Login
Email-based login replaces user name-based authentication. Enabling email-based login is the prerequisite to linking user accounts.
The unified email-based login offers numerous benefits:
-
Simplified User Access: It allows you to access multiple profiles using a single set of credentials, making login easier and eliminating the need for multiple usernames and passwords.
-
Enhanced Security: It can be made more secure with strong authentication methods, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA). This significantly enhances security by adding an extra layer of protection beyond just a password.
-
Reducing Shared Password Vulnerabilities: If you use the same password for multiple profiles, it can expose you to security vulnerabilities if one of your profiles is compromised. This reduces the risk with enhanced security features.
-
Reduced Password Fatigue: You may find it challenging to remember multiple passwords because of the many accounts and services you use. This makes it easier to manage passwords, increasing your satisfaction and potentially reducing password-related security issues.
Accounts Linking
User accounts linking enables consolidation of multiple user accounts under one with an email based authentication. Linked accounts are available as identities that you can switch between without having to re-login.
User Account
The User Account page enables managing your access and security settings.
Important: Equinix Does Not Recommend Shared Logins
We require each user to have their own login. Using shared logins gives multiple people access to the Equinix portals and your data. This is not recommended for the following reasons:
● Accountability: Difficult to trace actions in the portal (such as deletion of resources) to specific users.
● Security Risk: Increased chance of unauthorized use or breaches.
● Privilege and Access Control: Cannot enforce proper access levels for each person.
● Former Employees: Previous users may still have access.
● Multi-Factor Challenges: Hinders effective multi-factor authentication (MFA).
● Password Changes: A password reset impacts everyone using the shared login.
