Local Users
A local user is located in the vCloud Directory database and is unrelated with centrally managed users who may reside in the EBC Directory or any other federated identity provider.
EBC Directory
The EBC Directory is a Single-Sign-On (SSO) and identity service where EBC customers manage their users securely through self-service without using or configuring their own federated identity provider. This directory is based on Keycloack.
Organization
An Organization (Org) defines users within the vCloud Directory. It is a container that groups EBC resources like virtual data-centers (computing, storage, networking), users, and libraries located in all EBC locations. The name of the Org is needed to login to the EBC vCloud Directory portal.
Note: “<organization name>” refers to Org name.
Organization Virtual Data Center
Organization Virtual Data Center (Org VDC) is a virtual data-center where resources are grouped for users who need computing and storage capacity in an EBC location.
Organization Administrator
The first user that is configured with the initial deployment for a new EBC user is the customer administrator account. This account is created by Equinix during the on-boarding process and is based on the name and email provided by the user.
The administrator account is automatically added to the “Organization Administrator” group in the EBC Directory. Being a member of this group assigns the account with all the permissions in the vCloud Directory, as the group membership is linked to the “Organization Administrator” role that is available in the customer Organization.
