Create a Migration

Prerequisites

  • A VMware Cloud Availability on-prem appliance, deployed and registered with you on-prem vCenter

  • Tenant access to EBC Availability

  • Organization Administrator credentials for the destination Cloud site

The following procedure describes how to migrate a virtual machine to EBC Availability. The main difference between a migration and a protection is that the latter has a non-changeable daily interval (RPO=24h).

  1. Log in to vSphere Client.

  2. Right-click the virtual machine you want to migrate and select DRaaS.

  3. In the DRaaS plugin, select your Local availability site.

  4. Select the Outgoing Replications tab.

  5. Click ALL ACTIONS and select New Migration.

  6. Enter an internal Organization Administrator credentials and click LOGIN.

    Note: SAML isn't supported.

  7. In the New Outgoing Replication window, select the virtual machine(s) to migrate and click NEXT.

  8. Select the destination Organization VDC, choose storage policy and click NEXT.

  9. (Optional) Select desired migration options and click NEXT.

    • Delay start synchronization

    • Exclude disks

    • Configure Speed VMs

  10. Review migration workflow and click FINISH to initiate synchronization.

  11. Monitor replication status and once it's finished, proceed with performing migration.
