Yes, the inclusion of new images and flavors can be requested at any time. However, there is no guarantee that new images or flavors will be approved if the operating system’s version is not with its support cycle active along with the software manufacturer, or if there is approval incompatibility with the Equinix Hybrid Cloud.

The default image is provided with 100 GB for Windows and 50 GB for Linux. These are the minimum sizes accepted based on our management premises. This facilitates adjustments to the virtual machine settings if you purchase our management product.

The O.S. disk of a VM is stored as per the CustomerName-VDC-Type-VHD storage policy, and may be expanded to up to 120 GB via the Equinix Hybrid Cloud Portal.

You can acquire performance disks under the Equinix Hybrid Cloud Managed Storage solution, opting for Tier I, II or III storage policies, where the limit per data volume is up to 16 TB, according to the contracted quota.

Yes, you can contact your Account Manager and contract Equinix Professional Services for Cloud Migration. We recommend that you create a virtual machine and migrate your data applications (install the application and copy its files).
Migrating old virtual machines should be avoided for the following reasons:
-
There are no guarantees that migration will meet all legacy system compatibility requirements.
-
The operating system will not be optimized for the hypervisor used in Equinix Hybrid Cloud, so there is no guarantee that the virtual machine will perform well.

During the first launch of the virtual machine, customization scripts are run on the login screen that define the hostname of the operating system and password for the root user or administrator, among other processes that run in the backgrund.

-
BYOL – Bring Your Own License. In this case, the installation key or subscription is not included. You must provide your own key or subscription to activate the operating system after creating the virtual machine.
-
If the software licensing of the systems Linux Enterprise (Red Hat & Suse) or Microsoft Windows Server was acquired along with the Hybrid Cloud solution, contact Equinix’s support team to activate the licenses after creating the VMs.
-
CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu – These operating systems are classified as Free Software; so there’s no need for licensing or support subscription.
