Asset Tagging

Equinix's Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy relies on collaboration with channel partners. We continually seek to add new features of value for our partners and explore enhancements which provide incentive for collaboration, and reduce sales drag and increased turnover in the channel.

These new reseller-end customer asset tagging capabilities address these goals in two ways. Enabling resellers to add, edit and access end customer information at the asset level provides valuable information partners can use within their business. Equinix can also benefit with insight into the full customer footprint of both direct and partner business.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced End Customer Data Accessibility: Makes consistent end customer data accessible across all systems and processes, enhancing data for partner and internal use.

  • Improved Customer Retention: Facilitates better visibility to end customer footprint, and partner and Equinix account team collaboration to deliver value to customers, reduce churn and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Builds the foundation for delivering new reporting and services to our partners in the future.

Note: Currently, only cabinets can be tagged.

Tagging a Cabinet using Asset Details

Tagging a cabinet to an End User indicates that all assets within the cabinet belong to that End User and will be billed accordingly.

Note: Only Reseller Company Admin users have access to this functionality.

  1. Log in to Equinix Customer Portal (ECP) as a Reseller Company Admin.

  2. From the left navigation menu, click on the Inventory icon. You will see a full list of assets.

  3. Select Colocation, followed by Cabinets.

  4. Select the cabinet you wish to tag. Click on it to load the Cabinet Asset Details.

  5. Click Add or Select an End Customer. A list of End Customers will be displayed for you to tag the Cabinet.

  6. There are four options for you to tag your cabinet.

    • Do not identify – for privacy reasons, some End Customers should not be identified (e.g. military and government).

    • Select an End Customer from Equinix Database – search and select from a list of existing End Customers that you have already created within Equinix.

    • Select an End Customer from External Database – if the End Customer does not exist within our database, you can search and select from an external list of commercial entities. This list is a comprehensive list of existing commercial entities for each country.

    • Add your own End Customer – Lastly, if you cannot find the End Customer, you can create your own.

Note: Only one End Customer can be selected.

  7. Click Submit.

Note: It takes 30-60 minutes for data to sync. After tagging, you will see a Pending status in the End Customer field for the asset.

When the Cabinet is tagged to an End Customer, End Customer will be displayed in the Account Number/End Customer column. End Customer will also be displayed in Asset Details.
