Maintenance

Maintenance details show how and when maintenance is performed on the assets in an IBX.

Maintenance is critical to a healthy data center to ensure that the assets are operating correctly. The Maintenance screens in Equinix Smart View provide information regarding assets undergoing maintenance. Maintenance activity and maintenance scripts help to ensure that you're aware of these maintenance events.

  • Maintenance Activity – Displays information about the electrical and mechanical assets currently undergoing maintenance in the data centers. This allows you to see if any of the assets supporting your cages are currently under maintenance.

  • Maintenance History – Shows the history of maintenance completed on electrical and mechanical assets. Here, you can see the asset equipment information and their geographical details. You can filter these assets to see how often they have been under routine maintenance with dates showing when their past maintenance was started and ended.

  • Scheduled Maintenance – Displays details of upcoming notifications regarding scheduled maintenance activities for your electrical and mechanical infrastructure assets. Notifications regarding these activities are sent via email. The status of each activity, its past notifications, and affected account details are seen here.

  • Maintenance Scripts – Allows you to access the scripts that are used by IBX site teams to guide scheduled maintenance activities on the assets. The scripts list the pre-defined steps, risks, and contingencies of the specific activities to be done. You can view and download these scripts to understand what will be done during these events.

Notifications During Maintenance

At the time of active maintenance on an asset, an IBX staff member designates the asset as Under Maintenance. Appropriate precautions are taken to ensure proper redundancy. It is expected that system alerts will be triggered by an asset during a maintenance event. Any system alerts triggered while maintenance is performed are labeled as During Maintenance: Yes. To disable or enable alert notifications during maintenance, see Configuring System Alert Settings.
