Standard cross connects are the most common type of interconnection. These cross connects allow you to connect with one another within an Equinix IBX data center, between IBX data centers in the same campus, and within multitenant data centers. They allow you to gain fast, reliable access to a wide range of partners and services, including access to cloud on-ramps that enable hybrid cloud infrastructure and equipment-free virtual network access.
Each Secure Cabinet includes a network demarcation point comprising a single mode fiber patch panel by default, from which cross connects can be ordered. A cross connect allows the originating user (A-side) to connect a physical media cable to another user (Z-side).
Equinix requires that all cross connects be delivered via an Equinix-approved demarcation point. As a standard practice across our global IBX data centers, Equinix provides in-cabinet demarcation panels for the Secure Cabinet products.
