Digital LOA FAQs

As a Z-side user, at what points in the process can I cancel a Digital LOA (DiLOA)?

The DiLOA can be cancelled when it has any of these statuses: Ready for Use, Pending Requestor Acceptance, and Pending Authorization.

As an A-side user, I obtained a DiLOA, but I cannot use the ports that are listed in the LOA PDF document. Why can’t I use these ports?

The ports that are listed in the LOA PDF document are reserved for use only by the DiLOA. You must upload this document in the Cross Connects order creation form. Then, all the Z-side asset details will be automatically populated, including the ports.

I have a DiLOA that includes multiple connections, but I used only the first connection when I created a Cross Connects order. Why aren’t the other ports unreserved automatically after my order was submitted?

The normal order flow for a DiLOA proceeds through these statuses.

  1. Ready for Use
  2. Locked
  3. Used

While the connection order is being processed, the DiLOA is in Locked status. If the order is cancelled, the DiLOA will be reset to Ready for Use. At this point, the ports reserved by the DiLOA are still reserved. These ports are released for use when the DiLOA order is completed with a status of Used, Cancelled, or Expired.

I have a DiLOA for multiple Cross Connects connections.

Why can’t I choose different cages or cabinets for the A-side patch panel locations in these connections?

Currently, when a user creates a DiLOA to order multiple Cross Connects, the IBX, cage, and cabinet that is assigned to the first A-side connection is used for all the additional A-side connections. These settings can’t be changed during the order creation process.

I received a DiLOA PDF. How do I use it to order a connection?

The general steps for using your PDF are:

  1. You upload the LOA in the Z-side Details section in the Cross Connect order.
  2. The provider and IBX location information are automatically populated from the PDF.
  3. Continue with your order.

The patch panel ports that you specified in this document have been reserved for your connections. If you don't upload the DiLOA PDF, these ports won't be visible when you try to order your Cross Connects connection.

Why does a DiLOA require an expiry date?

A DiLOA includes a required expiry date to protect the usage of your assets. When you create a DiLOA, ports of the selected patch panel are reserved so that you cannot use them for any other purpose. If your partner doesn't use the DiLOA before the expiry date, your assets will be unreserved and you can use them again.

When I try to view Z-side Authorizations, the list in my display is empty. Why?

The Z-side Authorizations list shows the LOAs that you, or colleagues from your company, created using the Digital LOA Manager. This list is limited to just the IBX data centers that you can access, based on permissions from your primary administrator. So this list is empty for one of these reasons:

  • No DiLOAs have been created by your company.
  • No DiLOAs have been created by your company for the IBX data centers that you can access.

In the A-side Partner drop-down list, why do I see names of the companies to which I currently don't have a connection?

The DiLOA strategy is to authorize future connections between partners. Therefore, we aren't limiting this list to current connections, because Equinix doesn't know to whom you would like to connect in the future. If the A-side partners list doesn't contain the name of the company with whom you would like to authorize a future connection, use the Add a New Partner option.

Where can I learn about DiLOA APIs?
