Secure Cabinet
Equinix Secure Cabinet products support deployments ranging from single cabinet to more than 10 cabinets. Secure Cabinet offers globally available space and power tailored for regional differences.
Equinix IBX data centers enable Secure Cabinet products to connect customers to a global footprint, with presence in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, East Asia, and Australia.
A Secure Cabinet in an IBX data center provides access to Equinix's interconnected ecosystem and to Platform Equinix. IBX data centers are designed to support, protect, and connect business-critical workloads. For a downloadable overview, see Equinix Secure Cabinets – Solution Overview.
Secure Cabinets address space, power, and interconnection requirements. Deployments can start with a single cabinet or scale to multiple cabinets for expansion, allowing control over infrastructure placement as requirements change.

Securing infrastructure
Each Secure Cabinet includes physical infrastructure to house equipment within an Equinix IBX data center.
- Locking cabinet doors to restrict physical access to installed equipment.
- Standard configurations include industry-standard internal equipment mounting, space for power distribution units and cabling, and provisioning for secure interconnection to the Equinix ecosystem.
- Power and environmental service level agreements covering defined operating conditions.
Allocated capacity using kVA-based power
Allocated power draw, also referred to as draw cap, is a threshold measured in kilovolt-amperes (kVA). Capacity planning aligns planned power consumption and associated cooling for each Secure Cabinet.
- Determine your draw cap defines current and planned power requirements for the deployment, based on evaluation with an Equinix representative.
- Know what affects draw cap identifies factors such as cabinet ratings, circuit availability, and deployment density.
- Protect your deployment supports selecting an appropriate draw cap to reduce excessive power and cooling use in a shared environment. Using draw cap allows focus on business requirements rather than the technical details of colocated space and power.
Power design for uptime in modern deployments
Redundant power circuits are integral to each Secure Cabinet deployment.
- Power configuration supports circuit selection based on deployment requirements to address current and planned infrastructure needs.
- Power circuit selection for safety and consistency keeps equipment safe and running smoothly. Selection is based on equipment power requirements, cabinet draw cap, and cabinet ratings.
Direct interconnection access to partners and services
Each Secure Cabinet is provisioned for private interconnections to partners and providers within the Equinix ecosystem.
- Private network demarcation point provides a single‑mode fiber patch panel integrated with each cabinet, supporting physical separation from other tenants and control over provisioned connections.
- Direct access to customers and interconnection services enables interconnection with other customers through Equinix Cross Connects, Equinix Fabric, Equinix Connect, and Equinix Internet Exchange, provisioned directly through the integrated demarcation point.
