Private Cage Provisioning
Equinix will commence building your cage and fulfilling your order after it has been accepted and processed. Equinix intends to provision a standard Private Cage within 60 calendar days after the order booking date. A standard Private Cage consists of one door, one camera, a demarcation point, biometric security, establishment of standard cage mesh, and power allocation (the supporting centralized infrastructure to provision power). Equinix Smart Build (ESB) orders are decoupled from design, configuration, and construction. All other ordered products (including the ESB) will be installed by Equinix as of the applicable provisioning date.
Cage Layout
The elements of the standard Private Cage must be aligned with the customer by the time of Order Signature (as captured in the Cage Spatial Layout artificat). Design details are necessary for Equinix to complete fit-out and hand over the entire cage. Even if the customer design details are delayed, Equinix will still build the standard Private Cage. Once provisioned, the customer receives a secure, standard cage shell (mesh enclosure, door, security, demarcation, and power infrastructure).

Billing and Terms
Billing will begin as of the date Equinix provisions a product (the “Effective Date”).
In the case of the standard Private Cage with kVA-based power (space + power commitment), billing and the term of the order will begin on day 60, even if the standard Private Cage is provisioned prior to that date.
Fees for all other related services, including, but not limited to, Equinix Smart Build charges, interconnection services, and Equinix Smart Hands support packages ("Additional Ordered Products") will begin on that product's respective Effective Date (i.e., its provisioning date). However if Equinix provisions both the standard Private Cage and the Additional Ordered Products prior to day 60, billing for the entire order will begin as of that full provisioning date.
The term of your order begins on the Effective Date for the standard Private Cage and will run for the term indicated in the order. The term for the Additional Ordered Products will begin on that product's respective Effective Date and will be coterminous with the standard Private Cage term.
Equinix Delays
If Equinix cannot deliver the Private Cage by day 60, billing for the cage will not begin until provisioning is complete. Customers are not billed for space and power they haven’t received if the delay is caused by Equinix.
Split Billing: Cage vs. Everything Inside the Cage
Customers may experience split billing timelines within a single order.
- Cage Space and Power: billed at day 60.
- All Other Services: billed once the remaining services (cabinets, circuits, Smart Build, cabling, etc.) are provisioned.
- If both the standard Private Cage and the Additional Ordered Products are provisioned prior to day 60, Equinix will commence billing for the entire order.
As a result, customers may see one billing start date for space and power, and later billing start dates for additional services. Delayed design inputs do not delay billing for space and power, but they do delay usability.
