This article provides guidance on the ConnectionConnection is a general term that refers to any solution that results in the ability to pass data from one point to another. Once your ports are provisioned and displayed in the ECX FabricECX Fabric is an advanced interconnection solution that improves performance by providing a direct, private network connection Portal, you can create connections. All connection requests are created on the “Connect” page. To access this page, click Connect on the navigation bar. This page provides access to the public connection options available to you, and lists any private connections you might already have.
Equinix has Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with AWS Direct Connect, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute and Oracle OBMC. Subsequently, when you create a connection to AWS or Azure on ECX Fabric, the complete process is automated until the provisioning of the connection. Private connections enable you to connect to your own assets on ECX Fabric or to other ECX Fabric customers.

From the header, you have several connection options:
- Service provider—clouds, networks and service providers
- Another Equinix Customer—customers, vendors and partners
- Myself—your assets deployed at Equinix
Click the option you want to initiate a connection request. When you select a connection option, any available service profile cards display in a row below.

There are two rows of cards below the header. One row provides access to connection services you use most often, and the second row highlights any private services that you can access. Connections created vary depending on the service profile offering.
If you select a service provider card from the header, you see a list of all the public cloud service providers (CSPs) available. You can use the keyword search to retrieve the CSP you want.
When you click Select, the Service Provider card expands to show their available service profiles including the regions and locations. The same expanded view displays if you select a card from the collection of frequently used service providers. From the service profile card, click Create a Connection to initiate a connection request.
